This research involves the development of a sustainable synthesis procedure for producing magnetic framework composites (MFCs) comprised of citrate coated iron oxide nanoparticles and a zinc based citrate metal-organic framework, commonly known as UTSA-16. These materials have potential application in carbon dioxide capture. Data collected informed conditions relevant to optimisation based on yield, textural properties, and performance of the MFCs. Data include particle images (microscopy), heating profiles, gas sorption data, magnetic properties measurements, thermogravimetric data (thermal decomposition), laboratory notes taken during the research.
