Many key policy issues are related to the operation of the labour market and the experiences of various groups of workers. In this module we examine issues such as:

  • Does increased taxation reduce the supply of labour?
  • Why are there so many households with nobody in work?
  • Should the government subsidise training and education?
  • Does the minimum wage help or hurt low-paid workers?
  • What effect does new technology have on workers' wages?

This module will also be very useful for those students wishing to study Labour Economics I in the third year
